Artist Books

My books and zines extend my drawing and writing practice. Small in scale, and either handmade or designed and printed, they are built around sequence: a subject unfolds across pages rather than resolving in a single image. The format brings drawing, writing and thinking together in one object that can be held.

A document of a drawing over four days. The weather represents the four elements of nature - earth (mist), water (rain), fire (sun) and air (wind) and becomes a metaphor through the process of drawing for the, oft harsh, realities of living close to the land in a rural life.

Genius Loci
The Walk to the Cave, 2018

Taking inspiration from the poem ‘Dart’ by Alice Oswald Genius Loci is a document of a walk through a Scottish rural landscape told through means of drawing, sound and poetry.

Printed and stapled booklet, 12 pages.

Display of artwork includes a mountain landscape painting on a fold-out paper, a book titled "Sandaig," and various smaller pieces and sketches on a white table.
